Day after gov healthcare passed in the house. Evidently, it isn't Christian to question our leaders.

Did the Lord work a miracle to bring Hitler to power too?
Joshua Kelly March 22 at 11:26am Report
Yes
Chance Robinson March 22 at 11:32am
While my initial reaction is to jerk back and re-read your 3 letter response to make sure my eyes are working properly, i am more eager to hear your explanation. Do you concede that any man of power was put there by God and that all his acts are just? Do you believe that any man in power is incapable being wrong because he was put there by God? If a previous administration was directly opposed to a piece of legislation and then the administration to follow was in support of it, who would be right?

Hey i am a man of christ and i am a witness for him and i do believe if he wants to work miracles in peoples lifes that he would do it. Are u being rasist
Chance Robinson March 22 at 12:00pm
I see you are from Dawsonville, GA and i am familiar with the area, so i will excuse you for assuming anyone who opposes Obama's policies is racist. I assure you that if he were white, Asian, Native American, or a combination of any race or sexual orientation, my thoughts would be the same.

Not all people in this world are truly working miracles. In the extreme sense, your logic implies that Charles Manson was working such miracles. He was, in fact, trying to make the world a "better place." As for Hitler... he was trying to do the same.

I assure you... not ALL men who read the Bible and go to church on Sundays are best able to manage the government. Man is always capable of making wrong decisions, no matter what their religious affiliation.

Chance Robinson March 22 at 12:11pm
I am happy to live in America where we can voice our opposition to a president who is driving us to a path of economic instability and reliance. People in other countries do not have this privilege, and for that i am grateful. I pray you learn to acknowledge this.
Joshua Kelly March 22 at 12:14pm Report
I pray for everyone everyday day to be humble, encouraged to stay in god's word and to think and speak positive. Always remember to talk positive about people

Chance Robinson March 22 at 12:30pm
I already knew what i started and i am okay with that. It is nothing short of dangerous to assume that the actions of man are good because they claim to be acting in the path of God.
Chance Robinson March 22 at 12:32pm
i do judge myself every day, and that is how i am able to work to become a better person. i judge others as well by pointing out their flaws. otherwise... how would anybody ever know when we are wrong?
Joshua Kelly March 22 at 12:33pm Report
By letting the lord show them wat they are saying or doing wrong
Chance Robinson March 22 at 12:37pm
has nobody ever helped you along your way? have you never become a better person, or become smarter because of what someone has told you that you didn't know before? there have been men who have worked their whole lives to prove a theory... and long after the die, another man comes along to prove the other man wrong. first man was never proven otherwise during his lifetime. it is the critical minds of others that keep us on track.
Joshua Kelly March 22 at 12:41pm Report
My family have always helped me out but the lord shows me when i do wrong things so i can do right in his eyes
Chance Robinson March 22 at 12:46pm
Ever gotten a bad grade before? That's a perfect example of how others' critical input shapes who we are and judges what is right or wrong. There's no justification there that "the Lord told me that the answer was B" when it was actually A. Sure, you might be left with a sense of spiritual righteousness, but you still fail.
Joshua Kelly March 22 at 1:29pm Report
u do not get it
Chance Robinson March 22 at 1:55pm
No, i do get it. A critical mind makes the world a better place by innovating, improving, and answering questions. A mind that sits idle waiting for answers from a higher power does nothing to improve society. Look at the Middle East... perfect example of a society stunted by religion over thought. They are hundreds of years behind in technology and their radicalism towards a "higher power" has left the whole population living in fear.
Joshua Kelly March 22 at 1:57pm Report
u really don'T know what you are talking about
Chance Robinson March 22 at 2:02pm
No... i do know exactly what i'm talking about. I'm saying that is that it is our DUTY as Americans to criticize our leaders. Checks and Balances man... it's a beautiful thing. But that's probably not something somebody who thinks "Hitler's rise to power is one of God's miracles" would think... In fact, that mindset is not too far off from what got Hitler into power in the first place.
Chance Robinson March 22 at 2:22pm
God is most likely working a miracle through me by having this conversation with you.

Mr. McDuck knows it. What about Washington?

Ok... i stuck with my music theme for two whole blogs. This video was too cool to pass up. Loved me some Duck Tales back in the day and here is a lesson from Mr. McDuck worth coming back to as adults.

lyrics can be distracting

A lot can be said about a band that makes you forget they are instrumental. They're fierce and full of angst without telling you so. Anybody can tell you that you should be depressed, or happy, or want to fight; but it takes a real real musician to tell you all this with notes on a staff. This is clearly a group of ex-metalheads that wanted to find new direction in music by focusing on composition rather than lightning-fast arpeggios. Hope you like it.

a change of pace

I've decided to put my blogger back on life support but to take a new approach to blogging. In the past, most of my posts have been philosophical, political, or those who have read my blogs since early college may remember skimming through a huge pile of partially-digested emo mush.

The new direction of this blog will be a timeline of my own ventures into art and music to find those who have pushed (or are pushing) lateral boundaries to create something completely innovative.

I'll start this off with a live video from Oklahoma City based psychedelic jam band The Flaming Lips from their latest album Embryonic:

virtue

The quality of one's life is an exact match to the level of virtue one has. It's the ability to chose the "right" decision over the "wrong" decision time and time again. People may have different opinions about what is right or wrong, but the most important thing to consider is "Will this make me a better person?" This question can be asked before taking part in anything...

when you go for a jog
when you apply for a job
when you pull into a drive-thru
when you light a cigarette
when you go out for drinks with your boys
when you make a proposal
when you meet a new person
when you read a book
when you sleep with a stranger
when you volunteer
when you announce layoffs
when you stay up late at night

First thing to ask is "Will this make me a better person?" and the next thing to ask is "Why?" It's only good business sense to take out more than you put in, so any energy you expend needs to reward you with the highest return for your investment. No exceptions. Never throw your energy down the drain and never allow it to sit idle. What makes us human is our ability to develop and grow. If you aren't growing, you aren't fully human.
